Optimism

Optimism is a layer 2 scalability solution for the Ethereum network. It aims to increase the capacity and performance of the Ethereum network, enabling faster transactions and lower fees.

Optimism uses a technique called rollup to process and group multiple transactions into a single transaction that is recorded in the core layer of Ethereum. This reduces the load on the core layer, allowing large numbers of transactions to be processed more efficiently. The main differential of Optimism is its approach based on optimized virtual machine (Optimistic Virtual Machine - OVM).

The OVM is designed to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing existing smart contracts on the Ethereum network to be deployed and run on the Optimism network with little or no modification. This simplifies the migration of applications and smart contracts to the Optimism network.
